The workshop initially had the objective of bringing together managers, health professionals, teachers and students involved in the care of persons with infectious and parasitic diseases (PPDIP) and people living with HIV / AIDS (PLHA) to delimit the current care setting in public network of these patients.

On the last day of the event activities, the participants divided into groups according to their affinities, functions and capacities, and outlined plans for improvement in the delivery of services and in the continuing education of health professionals.

The workshop was attended by professionals from UFMS / HUMAP, such as Andréa de Siqueira Campos Lindenberg (health care manager-HUMAP / EBSERH) and the infectious physicians at Dia / HUMAP Hospital: Anamaria Paniago , Mauricio Pompilio, Erivaldo Júnior and Cláudia Volpe, and also invited professionals from other states, such as: Cláudia Palm (infectious disease physician in the city of Curitiba-PR), Francy Webster de Andrade Pereira (manager of basic health care in the Federal District) Ana Amélia Bones (an infectious disease doctor from the city of Porto Alegre, RS), and the representative of the Ministry of Health Ana Kolin.

The main highlight of this event was that the managers and health professionals, through the verification of the demand overload in specialized centers to attend PLHA (such as CEDIP and Day Hospital) and based on the experiences explained by the invited professionals, set up a collegial with the objective to evaluate and initiate the process of decentralization of PLHA care.
